Be decisive, know what you want

The Sunday Mail

As the year has just started, you need to know what you want to achieve.

Doubt and indecision are major challenges for many people.

I believe we all get to face these challenges at some point in life.

Should I chase that dream or let it go?

Should I get started now, later or never?

There are so many negative questions that cross our minds at times and they lead to confusion, fear and anxiety.

Guess what?

The moment you conquer your fears and doubts, progress naturally follows.

One of the most important things that you need as you face each season of life is a made-up mind. Many people mistake being decisive for rudeness or stubbornness. Yet, having a made-up mind is being conscious, decisive, confident and able to move forward with conviction.

It is the ability to know what you want and then going after it, without allowing doubt and distractions to deter you.

Having a made-up mind stirs up a fire within you that gives clarity and purpose.

In most cases, once one finds purpose, one becomes unstoppable.

One of the reasons why many people give up quickly is because they have not found their true purpose yet.

Organisational status

The challenge in many organisations is that of having teams that do not know what they want.

Most are good at saying what they do not want, but fail to spell out what they want. This disequilibrium creates a gap that causes fear and doubt.

There are some employees who have worked for more than a decade, changing jobs often, but they still cannot tell what they really want.

Instead of them being seasoned operators in one industry, you probably find them paralysed by fear, anxiety and doubt.

Inasmuch as economic instability can cause doubt and fear, being indecisive is a also major contributor.

For fear of making mistakes, some staff members cannot decide on anything, even their daily activities.

What they fail to realise is that there is power in making decisions.

Sometimes, it is better to make the wrong or bad decision because it then gets corrected, and before you realise it, you will be making good decisions.

What do you need to possess a made-up mind?

Unwavering focus

The first step you need to take is to get committed. Commitment eradicates distractions. Once you choose your path, it becomes easy to expend your energy towards action.

Inner conviction

When you confidently stand by your decisions, doubt and self-sabotage melt away. You become unmovable and once those around you realise it, they are most likely to stand firm in supporting you. It is easy for people to support those who know what they want.

Resilience

The same way change is inevitable, challenges are inevitable, too. The only thing that differs is the type of challenge and its magnitude. But, with a made-up mind, set-backs become stepping stones. Instead of getting swept away, you rise above the challenges and find creative solutions to push through obstacles.

General facts

When you truly believe in yourself, your capabilities expand.

Of course, making up your mind does not mean ignoring logic or disregarding advise. It should be about being able to weigh options thoroughly then forging ahead with resilience and commitment.

In a world overflowing with challenges and options to choose from, a made-up mind becomes a superpower.

A decisive mind allows you to find your own course, navigate life’s storms and ultimately build the life you truly desire. So, choose your path and make your decisions.

Remember, the most transformative journey begins with a resolute mind and the unwavering belief in your own potential.

Wishing you good decision-making and success in 2024.
