CHAMPIONSHIP winning coach Joey ‘Mafero’ Antipas believes the combination between Clive Augusto and Bret Amidu will fly Chicken Inn to success this term.
Antipas, who has won the Premiership twice with Motor Action and the Gamecocks, left the National Sports Stadium a content man after quick fire goals from Augusto and Malvin Gaki delivered victory.
It was Augusto’s third goal in two matches.
After a tight first half, Chicken Inn found their range in the second half with substitute Amidu adding a new dimension to their play.
Augusto fired home on 56 minutes before making the second one for Gaki two minutes later.
Antipas could not hide is satisfaction!
“Augusto is settling in well, he is a quality striker…(who) runs off the ball very well and finishes like wise and together with Amidu, they proved to be perfect.
“It wasn’t easy in the first half, Yadah were coming on hard. We seemed to be running away from the ball and were playing the same game as Yadah but come second half, with Amidu, we managed the ball very well,” he said.
Antipas reckons his charges have no room for complacency and should quickly shift focus to their next game.
Yadah coach Genesis Mangombe felt his charges could have done better.
“We were a bit more defensive in the first half and it paid very well but come second half we failed to manage our block.
“It’s very difficult to explain when you lose 2-0 to such a team, so we need to go back to the drawing board and work on our mistakes,” he said rather bizarrely.
