AUGUST is always one of the busiest months on the entertainment calendar with many promoters lining up an array of activities for merrymakers. Stunner drops his eighth. This has also been a busy year for artistes with most major acts releasing their albums. While all talk has been about Jah Prayzah’s “Mudhara Vachauya”, this coming Friday, one of the country’s top hip-hop artistes – Stunner – will be releasing his eighth album titled “If I Die Tonight”.

The album launch is going to be a classy affair at Pablo’z VIP Deck where socialites and celebrities are set to grace the event which is strictly by invite.

The 16-track album features songs that include “Switch”, “Impilo Yethu” and “Photogenic”.

To spice up the sound on the project, Stunner featured the likes of Ba Shupi, Trevor Dongo, Albert Nyathi and Jamaica-based Sir Ford.

Stunner’s manager, Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa said their camp was ready to deliver on the five-star ceremony.

“We have been working hard to make sure that we organise a top notch ceremony and as of now, we are ready to deliver,” said Bakasa.

He added that the album has enough quality to penetrate the international market.

“I think this album is what the genre needs at the moment because it is set to redefine the identity of local hip-hop. This project should catapult Stunner to the international scene because of the quality and execution, which is something fans will definitely appreciate.”

Remembering Chopper

Today, all roads lead to Extra Mile where the King of Sungura, Alick Macheso clashes with the King of Dendera, Suluman Chimbetu for a gig to commemorate the pioneer of dendera music, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu.

These two artistes have been tried and tested on stage and are well known for their exhilarating performances. Macheso is currently riding high with popular tracks from his album “Tsoka Dzerwendo”, which has been received well by the public.

Chimbetu is still in the process of putting together his upcoming album, but as the fans wait in anticipation, they have the opportunity to hear some of the new tracks at this gig.

Extra Mile has proven to be a favourable place for family shows, so for all those who wish to have a great weekend shutdown, this is the place to be. Harare Street car wash explodes There is a new party spot for Sunday afternoons with the Harare Street Car Wash bringing a new flare to the city’s entertainment scene. Carl on world record drive

Top stand-up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube invades Harare this coming weekend as he attempts to enter the Guinness Book of Wold Records for holding the highest number of comedy shows in a space of seven days.

The current record holder, Australian Mark Murphy, held 30 stand up shows at 30 venues in his home country and Ncube is poised to hold 35 gigs at different venues, not just in Zimbabwe but in other countries as well.

This coming Friday he will host shows at Ster Kinekor Eastgate (2.30pm), Moto Republik (5pm), Zimbabwe German Society (7pm), Sopranos Coffee Shop (8pm) and New Ambassador Hotel Rooftop (9.30pm). While it might seem like the Friday shows are too many for one person in one day, his Saturday schedule is huge with the comic set to host nine shows at nine different venues around the capital.

The comic will perform at Cresta Lodge (9am), Solution Centre Highlands (11am), Ster Kinekor Sam Levy (12pm), Ster Kinekor Westgate (2.30pm), Prince Edward School (5pm), Alliance Francaise (6pm), Reps Theatre (7pm), Cresta Oasis (8.30pm) and Cresta Jameson (9.30pm). Harare is just one of the many stops he intends to make across the country and the region in his quest.
