A MONKEY has gone viral on social media after being arrested for removing tiles from the roof of a house.

A video shared on social media shows the “angry” monkey removing the tiles.

An image also shared on social media shows the monkey in handcuffs, with a security officer beside it.

The incident reportedly happened at a college in Uganda.

“This MONKEY was apparently arrested while plucking tiles off a roof at Busoga College Mwiri,” T-Radio reported on its Facebook Page.

It was not immediately clear why the monkey got “angry” to the extent of damaging the roof of the house.

However, the monkey’s actions have amused social media users.

“This fellow was not given food or what coz that was a protest,” one person said on social media. — Wires

Kenyan “Jesus” summoned

A controversial Kenyan preacher has been summoned by police as the government cracks down on what it calls rogue churches and extremist religious leaders.

Eliud Wekesa, popularly known as “Jesus of Tongaren”, the leader of the New Jerusalem sect, was summoned for questioning about his suspicious religious teachings.

He has led members of his church to believe that he is Jesus.

Wekesa has 12 disciples named after the descendants of the biblical Jacob.

He is expected to appear before police in the western county of Bungoma.

The preacher, however, says he has done nothing wrong to warrant arrest, adding that he only spreads the gospel, local media reported.

This comes as investigators exhumed 21 more bodies in the coastal Kilifi county, bringing the total of those known to have died in the doomsday cult to 133. — BBC

Wife bashed for refusing to cook sadza

A big appetite for eggs landed a man from Howickvale Farm in Concession, Mashonaland Central province, in hot soup after he was arrested for assaulting his estranged wife as punishment for refusing to prepare him his favourite meal of isitshwala/sadza and eggs for supper.

Livanary Mazangwira (33) pleaded not guilty when he appeared before a Concession magistrate, charged with physical abuse, as defined in Section 4, as read with Section 3 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

He was remanded out of custody for trial.

The State case, as presented by the prosecutor, was that on April 16, and around 7pm, Mazangwira approached his estranged wife Isabel Tafirenyika (29) through their son, asking her to prepare sadza and eggs.

Tafirenyika reportedly refused to do so since they were on separation.

That, however, did not go down well with Mazangwira, who then confronted Tafirenyika and started shouting at her before he grabbed her by the collar and slapped her once on the left cheek.

It is reported that around 10pm on the same day, the angry Mazangwira followed his estranged wife to her place, and upon arrival, he forced open the door of her hut.

When Tafirenyika asked him about his violent behaviour, Mazangwira grabbed her by the neck, while swearing that he wanted to kill her.

Sensing danger, Tafirenyika escaped and went to the police to report the matter, leading to Mazangwira’s arrest.

Tafirenyika sustained a painful neck as a result of the attack and was referred to hospital for medical attention. — B-Metro
