Less than two years after Government embarked on 1688 projects in infrastructure development and social amenities, nearly 40 percent of the tasks have already been completed.
Briefing journalists after a Cabinet meeting yesterday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said out of the 1688 projects which started in January 2021, 657 are fully completed.
The completion progress translates to 39 percent and Minister Mutsvangwa said the outstanding projects are being implemented vigorously.
“Out of the 1 688 projects, 657 projects are fully completed, while implementation of 1 031 is ongoing,” she said.
“The projects include infrastructure and utilities (roads, airports, dams, irrigation, housing, energy); human capital development (construction of schools, provision of ICT equipment); social protection (support for the elderly, BEAM); health and well-being (provision of an enabling environment for health service delivery.”
Stakeholders have described the robust implementation of the projects as a testimony to the Second Republic’s commitment to accelerate the improvement of people’s livelihoods in tandem with the national vision of attaining an Upper Middle-Income Society by 2030.
