THE African Union (AU) has encouraged small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to venture into climate-friendly projects.
Speaking at the launch of the 13th SMEs International Expo, country representative for African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council, Ms Kundai Ngwena also encouraged SMEs to come up with strategies that address climate-change issues.
“This will help in building resilience, adapting and mitigating climate change,” she said.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Mr Moses Mhike – who was represented at the same event by Engineer Francis Gondo – said the Government is unwavering in its stance towards mobilising and capacitating all micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with programmes and initiatives that buttress the resilience of the sector.
The SMEs International Expo will run from September 27-30 at Old Hararians Sport Club in Harare.
