A little toast for single mothers

TODAY, we want to talk about women who make all sorts of sacrifices by raising their children single-handedly.

I consider these women real heroines or ‘sheroines’.

They go the extra mile to make ends meet.

They are doing their part to raise future great leaders for both the country and the world.

It is, however, sad how society looks down upon them.

No one would wish to raise their kid(s) single-handedly but circumstances force them to do so.

Women in such circumstances need to know that children are a gift from God and they should never give up on their mission.

There is a reason why they find themselves in such situations.

They should be grateful that they are part of the people blessed enough to have children.

It has to be considered that infertility affects 15 percent of the world population.

No matter how difficult it might be, there is every reason to be thankful.

Situations can be tough, but there is no need to lose hope.

Do everything possible to make sure children grow and realise their full potential.

Society might shame you, saying all sort of negative things, but never look back.

You should just focus on your kids.

Teach them good morals and make sure they are well-fed and get a good education so that they have a bright future.

You should also be a good role model.

How you behave is how they will also behave when they become adults.

It is women’s nature to be soft, but as a parent you need to be firm at times.

There are times when you will need to be your children’s father.

And, yes, it is possible!

Raising your children as a single parent does not mean you need to feel sorry for them for not having a father.

It is not a licence for them to misbehave.

Sheroes are a book of life to their children.

Keep doing well so that they learn the best.

One day, your tears will give way to happiness.

You are loved and appreciated!

Quote of the week: Raise your children with joy, no matter the difficult circumstances you find yourself in.
