Two 16-year-old Karoi boys have been arrested for allegedly causing the death of their friend after fatally injuring him while “playing a game” that involved physically assaulting each other.

The teenagers, whose identities have been withheld to protect them, are being charged with murder.

On Tuesday, they appeared before Karoi magistrate Mr Samuel Chitumwa who remanded them out of custody to December 5 under their uncle’s supervision. According to court records, the pair and their 15-year-old friend were playing near Kukura Farm dam on October 27.

The game involved physically assaulting each other.

A player who would have been beaten into submission surrendered points to the other two.

The 15-year-old reportedly lost several matches and was injured.

His condition deteriorated when he got home.

On October 30, he vomited blood and later died.

A medical report showed that he had sustained head injuries during the “game”.

Mr Webster Dimingu prosecuted.
