The Sunday Mail Editor, Victoria Ruzvidzo, has been listed among Zimbabwe’s 50 most inspirational women, a report by The Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe in conjunction with Women Corporate Directors Network reveals.

This is in recognition of the work she has done as a journalist in Zimbabwe and her role in influencing other female journalists to excel in a territory traditionally marked as male-dominated.

Other women in various fields such as sport, business, entertainment and philanthropy have also been recognised for their inspirational role.

Among them are Dr Eve Gadzikwa — Standards Association of Zimbabwe director General, Susan Makore — Zimbabwe Media Commission commissioner, Natalie Jabangwe — Sanlam Group South Africa group digital executive officer, Faith Mazani — IMF resident tax administration advisor, Tildar Moyo — Tildar Foundation Founder, Jestina Mukoko — Zimbabwe Peace Project director, Precious Nyika — Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe chief executive officer, Dr Nomathemba Ndiweni — Lupane State University Pro-Vice Chancellor and Gloria Zvaravanhu — Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe chief executive officer.

“Women in Zimbabwe are making their mark in all sectors. Their commitment and dedication has helped them to overcome great odds and make them a beacon for all those to follow. Their success stories’ are exemplifying various degrees of hardship and success.

“An inspirational is a person who motivates, excites or stimulates others either mentally or emotionally to do more with their life, career, family etc. The world is full of inspiring women whose passion and work has a positive impact in their community, they encourage us to choose a specific field of study, follow a certain career path, and become economically empowered.

“For one to be Inspirational, one must challenge others to do their best, leads by example, never give up, no matter how many times one fails (and) be able to share lessons from your successes and failures,” reads part of the report.

The report also features outstanding inspirational women and these have since the inception of their careers inspired others to strive for greatness. They demonstrated the courage to sail in uncharted waters, beat adversity through strategy and their success stories have inspired others to follow in their footsteps.

These are Professor Hope Cynthia Sadza who, together with Dr Fay Chung co-founded the Women’s University in Africa (WUA) in 2002. Prof Sadza is currently the Vice Chancellor for WUA.

Also on the list are renowned multi award-winning gospel musician Olivia Charamba, philanthropist and entrepreneur Tsitsi Masiyiwa, bankers — Dr Charity Jinya and Pindie Nyandoro as well as top human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa.

Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) commissioner Dr Grace Muradzikwa, TelOne managing director Chipo Mtasa, ZITF chairperson Ruth Ncube and Securico managing director Dr Divine Ndhlukula.
