LONDONERS Sports Bar in Strathaven in the capital, will this Saturday host a reunion gig for some of its iconic DJs and long-serving wheel-spinners, some of whom cut their teeth at the legendary home of entertainment.

The star-studded line-up of DJ Phatchild, DJ Torne, DJ Professor, DJ Walle and DJ Nivek of the popular Game Recognize Game duo, are set to entertain old, regular and new revellers till the wee hours of the morning, just as they used to when they were resident DJs at the popular Harare spot.

A number of surprise artistes and emcees who once called Londoners a home have also been thrown into the mix in what promises to be an explosive night. The club, which is one of the first to introduce exotic dancers in the capital will also see some surprise dancers, some of whom now ply their trade outside Zimbabwe, making a sensational return to the stage just for “old time’s sake”.

DJs that spoke to The Sunday Mail said they were anxious to reunite with some of their old fans and reignite the chemistry that saw them shut the club’s doors just before sunrise in the years gone by.

“This is our home. All DJs on the line-up know that this is the place that gave them that important spring that has taken them to where they are today. So regular patrons as well as new ones should expect to see everyone bringing their A-game to the stage and also introducing some tricks they have learnt over the years since they passed through Londoners,” said DJ Nivek, who is now one of the most sought-after entertainers in Zimbabwe.

Another big name attraction, DJ Torne Zagga, a favourite of many a Londoners reveller, also promised fireworks come Saturday. DJ Torne, who has built a massive following particularly on Facebook, said he could not wait not only to reunite with some of the DJs he used to share the turntables with but with his legion of fans that have supported his career for several years.

“I’m excited to be sharing the decks with friends on the same night. It has been a while since each of us went their own way even though sometimes meet in the same circles here and there. We all last shared the same stage in one night at the club some time back. Our fans should come in their numbers and enjoy the last days of the year with their favourite deejays.

“We are geared to give them the best of all music that is known to exist. I say so because each one of us is unique in their own way. There will be the best of old school and new school; those that love to dance will be taken down memory lane with a variety of genres, helping re-ignite that yesteryear spark,” said DJ Torne.

Londoners Sports Bar is situated at Strathaven Shops. The club has been in existence for the past 24 years. Management at the joint has promised to put some drinks on special for the night as well as let everyone in for free in the spirit of Christmas.
