ZIMBABWE needs to put on a united front in the fight for the unconditional removal of illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the West, according to Labour, Economists and African Democrats (LEAD)’s president Ms Linda Masarira.
“It is important for us to be able to stand together despite our differences in our call for the lifting of sanctions so that Zimbabwe can participate as equal partners globally when it comes to economic advancement,” said Ms Masarira.
She said although Zimbabwe has largely managed to navigate the economic embargo by aligning with friendly countries such as China and Russia, the sanctions still need to be lifted as they constrain Zimbabwe’s effective participation in the “global village”.
October 25 has been set aside by SADC as a day to show solidarity with Zimbabwe against the imposition of sanctions.
