Former South African and Mozambican First Lady Graca Machel will headline the Forbes Woman Africa 2020 Leading Women Summit to be held in Durban, South Africa on March 6.

Graca will be joined by South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Dr Naledi Pandor and her daughter, Dr Aisha Pandor, who is the chief executive officer of Sweep South, as part of this year’s influential speakers programme for Africa’s leading women’s summit.

To be run under the theme “The Ceiling Crashers 2.0: Power with Purpose”, the forthcoming summit is expected to attract an audience of 1 000 leading women from Africa and beyond.

Forbes Woman Africa Summit is renowned for bringing together an influential mix of female leaders in jurisdictions ranging from healthcare, business, advocates of social and environmental activism as well as internationally celebrated stateswomen.

This will be the fifth edition of the meeting and is set to be yet another impactful gathering, bringing together influential women from across industries and professions that are expected to generate hard-hitting conversations and insightful panel discussions.

Renuka Methil, the managing editor of Forbes Woman Africa, notes the platform has grown to become one of the biggest female  empowerment events, boasting a high calibre of attendees and exceptional speaker line-up.

“The calibre of women participating in the Forbes Woman Africa Leading Women Summit, and their roles in gender inclusivity, continue to attract global attention, and we are excited to welcome these three game-changers to the 2020 programme,” said Methil.

The summit will be followed by the Forbes Woman Africa awards and gala dinner, which for the first time, will be celebrating the continent’s most influential females, awarding those who have leading ideas and industries while purposefully contributing to nation-building and impacting positively on the lives around them.

Graca Machel is known for her deep-rooted connection with Africa’s freedom struggles and decades of service to advancing women’s and children’s rights and this has seen former Mozambican and South African first lady lending her expertise to a number of international organisations. Dr Pandor, who will be in attendance along with her CEO daughter, is expected to give advice on how to mentor a leader.

The attendees are anticipated to benefit from  valuable leadership learning  directly from Dr N. Pandor and her daughter, Dr A. Pandor, as they discuss “Mother and Daughter: How to Raise a CEO”.
