Zimbabwe is open for business with foreign partners and the country will make use of its deputation to the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland next week to woo investors, President Emmerson Mnagagwa has said.

Addressing the “Davos Preparatory Meeting” hosted by the Zimbabwe Business Club in Harare today, President Mnangagwa said, “Zimbabwe is a member of the global community and we cannot go it alone.

“This is why we are going to Davos. We want to dispel the perception that we are an Island, an isolated Island.

“We are saying to the world that we are part of you, we are part of the world community.

“These are the opportunities that we have in our country, look at them, look at the menu and come and invest in our country.

“This is the message that we are going to give, we are open for business.

“Those who want to do business, Zimbabwe is one destination where you can do business comfortably. That is the message that we are carrying

“We will therefore take definitive steps to reengage with nations that have had differences with us in the past.”

President Mnangagwa revealed that he had directed Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Lieutenant General (Rtd) Dr Sibusiso Moyo to ratify all international treaties and conventions that Zimbabwe is privy to.

The President advised the media to focus on the economy rather than give prominence to differences among political leaders.

“I implore you to migrate from the past where everything was looked at politically, we need to migrate to the new dispensation where the focus is economic development, economic growth, economic inclusiveness, rather than the past where we focused on political differences,” said the President.

During the meeting, President Mnangagwa also launched the Investment Guidelines and Opportunities in Zimbabwe handbook, which sets out the key principles that guide Zimbabwe’s investment policy.

President Mnangagwa is one of the selected Heads of State that will attend the high profile 48th WEF meeting to be held under the theme “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World” on January 23-26.
