THE Zanu PF Youth League has sent a message of condolence following the death of proportional representation Member of the National Assembly, Cde Tionei Melody Dziva, who succumbed to cancer last week.

She was 35.The ruling party’s acting deputy secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tendai Chirau, said the Youth League had received the news of Cde Dziva’s death with shock and grief.

“Cde Dziva was an inspiration to many, young and old alike; a high achieving go-getter who believed in the supremacy of principles,” said Cde Chirau.

“From the time she joined active politics within the ZANU PF ranks while still studying at the University of Zimbabwe, Cde Dziva never faltered in trailblazing her way through numerous obstacles.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a cadre who was productive, young and in the prime of her life. We have lost a colleague in the fight to ensure that our women and youth receive the highest priority in development planning.”

He said Cde Dziva, who was at the time of her death, the deputy secretary for economic affairs in the Youth League national executive, was an unstinting proponent of constitutionalism and a defender of morality.

“Such was her tenacity and determination that she earned due recognition from the Inter Parliamentary Union and the United Nations Economic and Social Council, high-profile entities which she served with distinction,” said Cde Chirau.

Last week, Cde Dziva was posthumously conferred with a Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Zimbabwe graduation ceremony.

“We have lost a comrade who constantly reminded us that our collective dream for a prosperous future has its foundation in sound education. On my own behalf and on behalf of the entirety of the revolutionary ZANU PF Youth League and its affiliates, I extend my utmost condolences to the Dziva family on the loss of such a young, vibrant life,” said Cde Chirau.

Cde Dziva was the secretary for international affairs in the Zimbabwe Congress of Students Unions (ZICOSU) while studying at the University of Zimbabwe.
