The ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League plans to mobilise people in a bid to secure 1,5 million votes as its contribution to the ruling party’s target of drumming up 5 million for next year’s harmonised elections, provincial youth chairperson Cde Emmanuel Mahachi has said.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Youth League’s inter-district meeting at the party’s headquarters in Harare yesterday, Cde Mahachi said mobilisation of support for the party’s Presidential candidate, President Mnangagwa, was in full  swing.

“As the Harare Province Youth League, we have launched our 2023 general election campaign,” he said.

“At the just-ended Congress, we chose President Mnangagwa as our sole candidate for the 2023 elections.

“We are excited to be officially launching our campaign for President Mnangagwa and we are now geared for the elections as ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League.

“As a party, we are working towards mobilising people to secure five million votes and, as the Harare Province Youth League, we are targeting to mobilise people to get 1,5 million votes.”

Following the party’s successful Congress, added Cde Mahachi, the provincial leadership was now fully focused on encouraging youths to register to              vote.

“Today we held our inter-district meeting and we invited all our district executives so that we see if all the youth in our respective districts are registered voters to ensure a resounding victory for our President,” he said.

“We also want to encourage our district executives to go right down to the cell level and ensure that our youths are registered to vote.

“If there are those who are not registered, then we assist them to register.

“But from the look of things, the majority of the youths are registered.”

In a separate interview, the provincial secretary for legal affairs in the Youth League, Cde Sheima Muguza, said         youths were fully behind President Mnangagwa.

“The meeting we just had brought together all the six administrative districts in Harare.

“We met to also teach each other about conduct within the party and what is expected of us as the youth, and how we are going to move forward in campaigning for President Mnangagwa, as we are rallying behind him all the way to the ballot,” he said.
