YADAH FC supporters went berserk yesterday and assaulted a Tsholotsho FC fan they accused of singing a song that mocked club owner Walter Magaya at Morris Depot. The ugly incident unfolded 10 minutes before the conclusion of this uninspiring Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie.

Swift reaction by the police saved the situation. On the park the two teams played to a goalless draw just like they did in the return leg. Tsholotsho are yet to taste victory in 20 matches and are sure relegation candidates.

How Yadah failed to dispatch these pretenders speaks volumes about the Premiership newboys’ blunt strike force. Yadah assistant coach Thomas Ruzive bemoaned the wild shooting but claimed to be content with the point.

“We deserved three points today but again we were short in front of goal. But this is a crucial point for us and will help us achieve our long term objective of surviving relegation.

“I think the coming in of the new players has improved our game and we are confident of surviving relegation,” said Ruzive.

Journeyman striker Rodreck Mutuma started for the home side yesterday and put in a decent effort.

Mutuma had an effort cleared from the line while at the other end Nqobile Malinga hit the cross bar with Tafadzwa Dube stranded. Tsholotsho coach Darlington Dodo reckons his side missed out on a chance to win their first match of the season.

“This is a match we could have won but then against that has been our story this season. We are doing everything right but failing to score and when you do not score you cannot win.

“We might be winless and anchoring the league but will keep on working hard and continue to believe. Maybe we will pull off a miracle and survive relegation,” he said.
