We are already into the fifth month of the year and fast approaching the second half of the year. I was thinking the other day that this year has been so eventful in so many ways such that even if the year was to end today, it would actually be fine. That is not going to happen of course.

Each month has had major events and several milestones have been reached. It is easy to get lost in all of the drama and palaver of life. The hustle and bustle of chasing for the elusive dollar, some call it the rat race. As you continue down the rigours of life it is easy to get disillusioned and lose focus. It is actually very possible to feel overwhelmed such that you can feel like your efforts are of little value in the greater scheme of things.

That could not be further from the truth, each one of us is unique and has their own unique mark that they leave on this life. Remain focussed on doing what you purposed in your heart to do at the beginning of the year. It might look like you are too far off but I have come to realise that resistance and opposition is built into the mechanism of life events.

So long as you want to go up, you will face resistance. I am reminded however of Proverbs 19:21 that says, “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”

Sometimes we can have so many plans and in our view they are good and well-intentioned however God sees what we do not see, and when we are sad that something failed it could actually be God’s divine providence.

Proverbs 16:3 gives us some advice, King Solomon says, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” As we enter into a new week, let us put this verse into actions and trust God for the remainder of the year. God bless!
