A local Christian group — Today’s Woman — has urged women to work together to raise their standards of living and take up economic opportunities available in the country.

Today’s Woman, which is led by Archbishop Dr Eunor Guti, seeks to empower, deliver, inspire and unite all women in different facets of life such as business and families.

Speaking at a luncheon in Harare yesterday, Dr Guti said: “God has given us an environment in which all women can come together and discover talent and deliver salvation globally. Woman have been taught how to be good mothers and how to equip their churches and grow using the gift that God has given them.”

Bishop Lavender Simukai said Dr Guti’s vision to form the group was inspired by God.

Today’s Women chair Ms Lucy Kawenda commended Dr Guti for making the initiative inclusive.

The programme started in 2007 and has spread to countries such as Australia and South Africa, where conferences have been held to empower women in business and socio-economic projects that end poverty.
