WOMEN have been challenged to venture into business so that they can complement Government’s efforts to attain an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

Speaking during the Women Wellness Workshop organised by BeMindFit in Harare yesterday, Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe board chairperson Mrs Vimbai Nyemba said there are a lot of opportunities for women in Zimbabwe.

“Our environment in Zimbabwe needs people to be entrepreneurs; you must be selling something.

“If you are not selling something, then you should start to do so because waiting for one source of income will be insufficient. This will also assist Government by contributing our efforts, as women, to Vision 2030,” she said.

Mrs Nyemba encouraged women to utilise information they have received in the month of March to develop themselves.

“I talked about legal issues that affect women rights. I’m told women are afraid of doing things; they don’t know their rights legally, so we unpacked a lot of issues. The momentum we have gathered in March, the lessons we have learnt and the experience we have shared must take us through and we must move from one place to another,” she said.

Executive director and founder of BeMindFit Ms Jessi Mhaka said: “I wanted to do something for women in this month of March and the best idea was to bring women together and talk about mental health. So, I also brought in other women to talk about different issues such as finance, image building and legal issues.”

Ms Mhaka said the formation of the organisation was necessitated by her personal life experience.

“I lived with anxiety, depression, chronic stress and mental health challenges. I then decided to go on my own journey to find answers why I was in such a situation. I discovered information that liberated me and I said to myself I was not going to keep that to myself because the world out there needs it, too,” she said.
