When we learnt to make pizza

THERE is a Shona saying which says, “Chitsva chiri murutsoka”.

It means a person can only learn new things when he or she visits new places.

Last week, our educational trip as Divine Junior School pupils taught me many things. On the 29th of October 2019, we went to a movie house and for some pizza.

We left school at 8.37am. The children were singing and dancing. We were very excited. It was very hot and the sky was clear. We arrived in town at 9.15am.

There were people, cars, lorries and buses on the wide streets. There were tall buildings and streets lights. This reminded me of a story we read in class titled “Thulani goes to the city”.

We were first taught how to make pizza at Pizza Inn.

We wore aprons and we were taught that pizza is a baked Italian dish of rolled bread dough crust. It is then topped with tomato sauce, cheese and other ingredients like meat, vegetables and fruits.

The kitchen was very clean and it smelt good. I heard my friend say when he grows up he wants to work at Pizza Inn.

After making pizza, we went to the cinema to watch a movie. We were very excited. We watched a movie called “Angry Birds”. It was a 3D Movie.

We were told to put on our 3D glasses. The movie was about an evil eagle which wanted to destroy bird island and piggy island. The movie taught us that it is bad to revenge.

After the movie we had our pictures taken. We were so tired when we went back home, but smiling at the same time.

My teacher taught me that all work without play makes Jack a dull boy. When we went on that trip, we had great fun and also learnt a lot.

Our school, Divine Junior, always organises educative trips for us. We have been to Kariba, Mazvikadei and Victoria Falls, among many other places in the country. We went to Victoria Falls by air and it was also great fun.
