THE Vine Choir has successfully set a new high for live video recording in the country.

The April 30 event left many asking for more and trended on social media for good reasons.

Several music concerts and many other events have been held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), but things went a gear up this time around.

It was a launch and live recording never seen before!

What satisfied fans the most is the manner in which the choir rose to the occasion and sang beautifully.

The 15-member choral group, The Vine, officially unveiled their second album “The Great Physician” in panache.

The world-class stage, characterised by trendy and innovative ideas, received thumbs up from every person who witnessed it.

The sound was solid, lighting perfect and performances by the choral group, including South African musicians Mabongi Mabaso and Mahalia Buchanan were top notch.

South African Grammy award-winning group Soweto Gospel Choir proved why they are an internationally recognised group through a superb act.

“We wanted to depict heaven on that stage, and we believe the set-up was a miniature of the same,” said The Vine director Everton Mlalazi in an interview.

The success of the event, he said, was a culmination of long-term planning and teamwork.

“It took us two months to plan and execute the gig. The planning was intense and involving. We engaged Napoleon Nyanhi as the production director for the event.

“We then roped in Events Evolution to design and develop the stage, sound and lighting, RHI Media for the graphics and all printed assets that were used.

‘‘All the companies that worked on the event are local talented Zimbabweans,” he added.

According to Mlalazi, the free for all event themed “Feel Africa” was inspired by the success of similar events in the neighbouring Mzansi.

“We have seen and have equally been inspired by recordings by Joyous Celebration, Benjamin Dube among others in South Africa.”

The Vine plans to host such recordings on an annual basis but in different cities across the country.

“Zimbabwe has the talent, so nothing should stop us. Besides, we believe the name of God was lifted up on the night. We also believe Zimbabwean talent was showcased, from staging, lighting, the band and vocalists,” he said.

The event witnessed a fusion of musical talent as vocalists from South Africa and Zimbabwe exchanged notes.

Seasoned gospel singer Benjamin Dube joined The Vine on stage and worked his magic.

“We thank God for giving us the opportunity and platform to serve and to share messages of hope about Him, the great physician.”
