The body of Christ was this week left shocked and in utter despair at the sad and tragic passing of Dr Myles Munroe, his wife Ruth and senior pastors at Bahamas Faith Ministries International.

Together with three other members their lives came to a tragic end after the plane they were in crashed.

We mourn with the church and everyone who has been impacted by this ministry in one shape or another.

I am sure those who followed his ministry will agree with me that Dr Munroe was a man who impacted, immensely, those that he ever came in contact with during his glory bound life.

It is this tragic loss that has got me thinking and meditating about the importance of time, a message delivered by a senior lady pastor in the city whose teachings have modelled this dear writer’s life also.

Starting from infantry, we are taught to be generous and share, but one of the most important lessons I’ve thus far is to be selfish with time.

If you are anything like me and believe that “time” can be wasted, well you are wrong. It is only you who is getting wasted.

This week’s lesson is derived from Ecclesiastes 3v1 and 8v5-6.

Time is given through gates; we have the gate of a moment leading into a gate of a second, then a gate leading into a gate of minute, then into an hour and so forth.

What follows is a gate into a day, week, month, season then year, decade, generation and century.

If we do not possess the first moment of a day then we do not possess the second, minute, hour, day and before we know it we have lost the week.

Take stock of your life because when you think about the things that you vowed to do and achieve at the beginning of the year, odds are you are nowhere near those goals and aims.

The reason behind this anomaly is that you failed to take into account the importance of time.

It is of great importance that we fully grasp and understand the gates of time because we lose so much not only as individuals but as the body of Christ when we underestimate time and its relevance in our lives.

We have had many negatives come against us so instead of concentrating on how we could have maximised ourselves on days or opportunities given, we opted to concentrate on the things that kept us back.

Instead of having dominion over our lives, we get caught up in small and trivial issues that do not really matter in the bigger scheme of things.

Petty issues like church politics or doctrinal differences have taken us away from fellowship.

God is the only force that can take us from point A to point B and the best thing is that He is not bound by time or anything for that matter.

One of the ways we get the mind of God in us is to observe time.

We have to know that a day is broken into eight watches, four in the day and another four at night.

The day watches are divided into 6-9am, 9-noon, 12-3pm and 3-6pm watches. The night watches then begin from 6-9pm, 9-midnight, 12-3am then 3-6am.

2 Chronicles 12v32 speaks about the sons of Issachar who had to come up in battle because they were able to discern times and seasons.

If we are going to get any kind of blessing we have to ask God which watch belongs to me, for each watch releases something that will help us further our destiny.

Broken down 6pm-9pm is a time you lock into God and he releases your future. 9pm-midnight is the time of visitation when God prepares you to receive the many acts of change.

If you want to gain momentum these are the times God has released for you, as Exodus 14 speaks of the watches that Israel had to observe. If it was for Israel then it also can be for the church.

In this particular watch (12am -3am), spiritual activity occurs.

Midnight is often referred to as the witching hour because there is a lot of spiritual activity that occurs soon after. There are plans at this time that the enemy makes against you, your future, your family, your destiny and it is not a time to ignore.

Finally, 3-6am is the time when angels go back and forth waiting for you to give them a command.

Dawn releases favour because it is during this time that dew is falling.

Dew represents favour, brings refreshing new provisions, a new supply and it will impart to you overcoming power.

You might struggle in praying long hours but at least take one hour in one watch to talk to God.

Watch out for The Sunday Mail, it could make a stop at your church this week.
