0910-1-1-DIANA 2THE “Victaks Riddim” that was released a couple of weeks ago will be officially launched in the next fortnight, an official from Mount Zion Records has revealed.

Mount Zion producer Temptation Chirenje, or simply Tman, said the riddim had since its release been well-received.

“Victaks Riddim” comes in two parts with the first medley featuring girls and the second boys.

Popular urban grooves-cum-afro jazz musician, Diana Samkange features on the riddim. She rode on the medley song featuring all the girls on the riddim and went on to record her own single titled “Tavawachisa”.

Samkange blended with ease with the tried-and-tested dancehall artistes like Ninja Lipsy, Edyln Juwela Mapuranga, Empress Shelly, Mattie and Sweetness.

Riddim producer Tman said they wanted to take their launch not only outside Harare, but across Zimbabwe’s borders as well.

“We expect to launch ‘Victaks Riddim’ in the next two weeks. However, our plan is for the launch to be done in Harare and other cities and towns around the country,” said Tman, adding, “If all goes well, we will also launch it in the United Kingdom in December.”

The 24-year-old producer – a 2014 Zima nominee (Best Producer) – said the record label had followers all over the country and abroad.

“Our music is not targeted to a particular city or town, it is for everyone. We have followers all over and by launching the project in their areas, we will be honouring them and this will in turn help in driving the success of the project,” said Tman.

“I’m happy the riddim is receiving a positive response from the public. We first made it available to radio stations and on our Facebook page. We only made copies available to the public last Wednesday and I must say all is in the right direction,” said the Mount Zion Records producer.

To further drive publicity, producers of the riddim have released accompanying videos, which have become popular on various social media platforms that include YouTube.

The main track on the riddim involves the ladies coming together to advise their peers to be wary about pretentious urban fellows. The artistes go on to diss ghetto youths from different residential areas, stating weakness common to guys from almost all the common ghettos.

Apart from the collaboration, they also went on to individually ride on the riddim. Samkange, the dancehall debutant said she loved the experience and would not mind doing a similar project in the near future.

“I have been in the music industry for some time and through experience I can adjust my style and voice to fit into any genre. I appreciate dancehall a lot and love their energy and confidence. That inspired me to join my sisters on the riddim,” she said.

Added Samkange: “I recently released another new love single titled “Mwene weMoyo” that is also causing waves on radio and competing with the dancehall track.”

Some of the other tracks featured on the project are “Boys dzeHarare”, “Vhura Meso”, “Harare” and “MaSascam Rounds”, “Kutsvaga Mari” done by Ninja Lipsy, Empress Shelly, Juwela and Mattie respectively.

Meanwhile, the VicTak meddly boys edition was released last week. It features a mixture of seasoned and budding artistes namely Sniper, Freeman, Element B, Quonfused, Nduna, Kilamani and Gee Brandon among others.

While it is still early to judge the songs, indications are that artistes like Element B and Kilamani might use this riddim as a springboard to stardom. Besides their well defined voices, the young lads come with a fresh dimension of creativity in their compositions.

Tman began music production in 2010.

He has produced a notable number of riddims most of which have gone on to top chats.

Some of his productions include “Pylerkim Riddim”, “Territory Riddim”, “Voice Riddim” and “Positive Riddim”.

Artistes that have featured on some of the riddims include Shinsoman, Tocky Vibes, Killer T, Spiderman, Tally B and Platinum Prince.

Apart from Mount Zion Records studio in Harare, Tman also has a church in Gokwe called Mount Zion Embassy Ministries.
