MOST of us wonder how he could send many kids enough to make a football team to school.

He did not earn much, but somehow all of us were sent to school by this one man.

He would never take a break from his work.

He always put in extra hours to earn that extra dollar to better our livelihood.

His hands are all bruises from hard work and toil for his children and wife.

Every single penny he gets is not for his new pair of trousers or a new jacket, but he considers his family’s welfare first before anything else.

He makes sure his children are well dressed and fed each time they go to school.  With all the hard work, his rest is just a few hours of sleep daily as he knocks off late and rises early. He uses his time to rest during weekends to fix broken things around the home.

Somehow, he finds pleasure and draws satisfaction from completing his domestic responsibilities and being able to fend for the family.

He is just a hero!

Our fathers are our heroes. There is an instinct in every father to fight and protect his offspring even if it may cost his life.

He always chooses to do tough tasks at home or work. A father figure is selfless. They can clothe their wives in glamorous apparel and pay for expensive hairdos yet they are often clad in worn-out attires and spot cheap haircuts.

Do they even care about an aesthetic look?  No, they do not. Short nails fit for work are good enough for them.

A short beard, which they usually trim by themselves every morning, is all they require to look decent. For their body, any soap and water is good enough.

These are the traits of most of these selfless beings. They spend much of their time doing things that benefit their families than them.

It is clear from their actions that their benefit is secondary. Luxuries start to have meaning in their lives if the wife and kids are also enjoying them. Some go to the extent of keeping a photo of the wife and kids in the wallet or desk as constant reminders of what needs to be done. Some dig trenches, sail crocodile-infested rivers as a fishermen and struggle with figures all day as accountants just to earn their family a living. If it was not for them, they surely would have left their job for something fun.

Fathers are natural providers and protectors. They are often at pains when they fail to do so.

This explains why they wake up during the night to check if doors are locked properly. A house without a father rarely feels secure. The absence of a father’s love can never be replaced by loads of money and food. Thus, fathers are a blessing from God and we should learn to celebrate them every single day.

Cherish your father while he is still alive. He started to work as a teenager and he will retire after decades of toil.

His whole life has been a busy one, day-in-day-out. Do you not feel for him?

He is the superman of the family.

Imagine, your father did not have much money as the man next door, but still he raised you to be a star that you are today.

How he did it, only God knows!

His scars resemble victories from battles he fought for you.

Fathers are the reason we are alive and well today. We need them in our lives and we must declare it to them today that if it was not for them, we could have drowned in a pool of unbearable difficulties.

Quote of the week: A father’s scars resemble victories from battles he fought for you.
