THE Sunday Mail continues to dominate as the most read weekly newspaper, commanding 11 percent of the national readership.

According to the latest Zimbabwe All Media and Products Survey (Zamps) 2019 first half report, The Sunday Mail’s national readership increased to 11 percent during the last half of 2018 from 10 percent.

Zamps is an independent survey done by Top Line Research Solutions.

The survey was established by the advertising industry to provide advertisers with information on where best to market their products and services.

The Sunday Mail’s urban and rural circulation rose from 17 percent to 18 percent and 4 percent to 5 percent, respectively.

The publication enjoys its highest circulation in Harare, followed by Manicaland and Midlands provinces.

In Bulawayo, The Sunday Mail’s readership increased from 12 percent in the last half of 2018 to 13 percent this year.

Other weekly competitors are lagging behind with The Standard at two percent, followed by the Financial Gazette and Zimbabwe Independent, both at one percent.

The Zamps report noted that The Sunday Mail is the most sought after weekly newspaper for local news lovers, which attracts 38 percent of the national readership, while about 22 percent and 12 percent of its readers are drawn to the classifieds and sport sections, respectively.
