YOUTHS must complement the Second Republic’s drive to transform the economy and help lay the foundation for a prosperous Zimbabwe, Zanu PF deputy secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tendai Chirau, has said.

Addressing students during the Zimbabwe Congress of Student Union (ZICOSU) national general meeting at the Chinhoyi University of Technology yesterday, Cde Chirau said youths should grasp economic empowerment programmes including applying for financial assistance from the Youth Empowerment Bank.

“This time around, we are saying youths, including students, should take part in the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme.

“As from next week, you will start receiving inputs being facilitated by President Mnangagwa.

“Youths should also start digging holes in order to access these free inputs that have since been extended to them.”

He urged students to look for opportunities in the economy and aspire to become employers as opposed to being employees.

“The standards of living for our people should improve, hence President Mnangagwa introduced the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).

“For Vision 2030 to be a success, you should play your part. It is not for us alone but the next generations.”

ZICOSU national president, Piji West Nhamburo, said the union was affiliated to the ruling party because it believes in President Mnangagwa’s vision to uplift the lives of the people.

“We are solidly behind President Mnangagwa and the ruling party Zanu-PF,” he said.
