First and foremost we must give thanks to God Almighty for protecting Zimbabwe, the President and First Family and all the people of Zimbabwe during this time of entry into 2015 and after.

This is the time to introspect and look at where we came from, where we are and focus on where we should be going. Introspection is part of self-rectification. This helps us to learn from our past mistakes and aim at doing better now and in future.

2014 was the ZANU-PF year for the elective 6th Congress. Preparations for the elective congress had its trials and tribulations, elections had their casualties, trusts and mistrusts rightly or wrongly perceived or real enemies. After all the activities the party needed introspection, self-evaluation and a way forward. Cde Robert Mugabe in his vision appointed his two Vice-Presidents — Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and Ambassador Cde Phelekezela Mphoko — and confirmed the Womens’ League nomination of the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe by appointing her leader and Secretary of the Women’s League. I say congratulations.

A new Central Committee elected from the 10 provinces and 10 by presidential appointment were confirmed by congress. The President then appointed the Politburo which is the working organ of the Central Committee. As we go into 2015, there is need for all of us to reflect on the 2014 developments and to have self-rectification and critical thinking and ask ourselves where we are going for the good of the nation and for our own good family and community. We need to reconcile with some of our party members who are hurt or disappointed by certain happenings rightly or wrongly, or by real or wrong perceptions.

Let’s forgive each other and reconcile. Let’s build our great Zimbabwe. Let’s support our President Cde Robert Mugabe and First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe and the Presidium. Let us work to build a stronger Party and Government for the greatest good of our nation. Let us make practical things happen — peace and reconciliation, employment, opening up of closed industries, capitalisation of banks to be able to offer loans and to pay depositors their hard-earned money. Let us make education and training a priority — investors must come together to form Education Bank.

I urge Government and NSSA, ZIMTA, universities and colleges to invest in EduBank to avoid the chaotic situation in some commercial banks. May I end by saying Happy New Year Zimbabwe.
