Nyovest, Kaybee gig: Harare holds its breath

The Sunday Mail

MERRYMAKERS were left heartbroken back in September when a ban on gatherings due to a cholera outbreak in the capital forced the postponement of Cassper Nyovest and Prince Kaybee’s RSVP gig.

While the new date seemed to be far at the time, it has finally arrived.

The two South African superstars are expected to rock the stage tomorrow at the Glamis Arena in Harare.

This “best of both worlds gig” sees the headliners, who are on top of the pile in their respective genres – hip-hop and house music – bringing Harare to a standstill.

The boys from across the Limpopo will be supported by an array of local talent, among them ExQ, Takura, Jah Signal, Dadza D, Nutty O, Tammy, Rax, Chucknosis, Reverb 7 and The Movement.

Nyovest left a lasting impression the last time he performed at the same venue, pulling off an exceptional performance which had the crowd singing along to famous numbers like “Tito Mboweni”, “Phumakim”, “Doc Shebeleza”, “Destiny” and “Mama I Made It”, among others.

Since then, the artiste has added more hits to his catalogue, which will certainly make this outing even more exciting.

Some of the current hits that have lately been rocking various platforms include “Gets Getsa 2.0”, “Ksazobalit”, “Check On You” and “Push Through the Pain”.

Prince Kaybee’s “Club Controller” has been one of the biggest songs this year. As if that is not enough, the super talented DJ/producer decided to unleash another banger, “Banomoya”, which has been topping various charts since its release in October.

It seems like everything the artiste releases turns into gold. He has churned out hits like “Yonkinto”, “Better Days”, “Charlotte”, “Beautiful Girls”, “Wajellwa” and “Friend Zone”.

Prince Kaybee’s set at last year’s Vic Falls Carnival was one of the major highlights of the event and if he is to replicate the same on Saturday, music lovers will be in for a treat. Meanwhile, this will be the first major stage that Jah Signal gets to sample his recently released album “Jaya” and if his recent live performances are anything to go by, his set should not to be missed.
