RESURGENT Chicken Inn came from behind but had a last gasp effort disallowed as this Castle Lager Premier Soccer League ended in a stalemate with the visitors four points behind log leaders FC Platinum.
After veteran defender Moses Jackson had canceled out Ngezi Platinum’s first half lead, which had come through Keith Murera, former Dynamos striker King Nasama rose from the bench and had his effort ruled offside in the 87th minute.
Chicken Inn, who are undefeated in the last six games, moved to 41 points, 11 behind log leaders FC Platinum.
It was the Gamecocks who were quick off the blocks at Luveve yesterday and could have scored as early as the second minute but Obriel Chirinda shot wide from close range. Last Sithole skied his effort 35 minutes after reacting to a knock down by veteran Clemence Matawu, before George Majika’s long range strike missed the target by a few inches.
Ngezi grabbed the lead against the run of play when Murera had the slightest of touches to a Godknows Murwira corner in the 42nd minute.
Last year’s Soccer Star of the Year finalist Jackson headed home the equalizer in the 51st minute and a little while later, Ngezi were reduced to 10 men when Clive Augusto was shown a second yellow in the 66th minute.
Nasama was then introduced for Majika in the 85th minute and the former Dynamos striker, who has developed a knack of scoring late goals, put the ball into the nets three minutes from time. However, his effort was ruled offside.
