THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), in partnership with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat, is this week training officers from the Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) to raise awareness on new strategies to combat gender-based violence (GBV).

In a statement, police said the week-long training will also cover issues that include investigations, interview techniques, crime-scene management and psychosocial support for victims of GBV.

“The week-long workshop is based on one of the regional tools, namely the SADC Gender-Based Violence Training Guideline, which was approved by ministers responsible for Gender and Women’s Affairs in August 2021,” reads part of the statement.

Police officers from different parts of the country are participating at the workshop.
