NEW: Warriors to camp in Polokwane

Online Reporter

WARRIORS are set to regroup in South Africa this Sunday to start preparations for the crucial AFCON qualifying matches against Kenya and Cameroon.

The team’s coach, Michael Nees, announced a largely unchanged squad led by skipper Marvelous Nakamba for the two matches.

Defender Munashe Garananga who missed the previous back-to-back assignments against Namibia due to injury, is back in the fold, while Simba Bhora marksman Tymon Machope received a call to boost the strike force.

England-based forward Tawanda Chirewa is still out with injury.

The players are expected to report for camp in Polokwane starting this Sunday.

ZIFA have confirmed they will play Kenya at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in an evening kick-off on November 15.

Zimbabwe, who have played previously at adopted Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg as alternative home ground, have this time opted for Polokwane at the behest of Nees.

The Warriors, who are second in Group J, need to avoid defeat against Kenya to snatch the remaining ticket for next year’s AFCON finals to be held in Morocco.

They cemented their place behind group leaders Cameroon after taking their points tally to eight following back-to-back wins over Namibia the last time out.

Kenya, on the other hand, suffered successive defeats to Cameroon, to remain rooted on four points.

They still have good chances of qualifying should they win the remaining two games against the Warriors and Namibia.

Zimbabwe will play the final Group J qualifying match against Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on November 19.

Cameroon have already qualified for the AFCON finals with two games to spare after amassing 10 points.
