A 21-year-old Harare man suspected of a spate of cattle rustling was on Tuesday caught red-handed by Zvihera Villagers in Dema while deboning a cow he had stolen.

Mashonaland East Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi said the accused was in the company of six other accomplices, who are still at large.

Police said on May 10, 2022, the complainant, Didymus Mumbamarwo, was awakened around 2am by his barking dogs.

“He discovered that one of his cattle was missing and went to report to his brother Everstone Mumbamarwo (43), who, through community policing, mobilised other villagers and a search was conducted.

“They saw the accused deboning the cow and upon realising that they had been seen, the seven ran in different directions, but the villagers pursued them and managed to arrest Tinashe Nyangunu (21),” said Inspector Chazovachiyi.
