Vashandiri, a non-commercial ensemble formed within the Church of Christ, recently launched their first album titled ‘Kana Tokohwa’.
The album launch was held in Harare on Saturday.
It was attended by notable gospel artists, including Followers of Christ, Boys of Thunder, UCGC, and the legendary Baba Mechanic Manyeruke.
Their presence highlighted the unity within the gospel music community.
Speaking after the launch, the leader of Vashandiri, Pastor Edwin Chakanyuka expressed gratitude for the support they have received from church members throughout their journey.
“The group consists of both elders and youths. The name Vashandiri was a word to our loved ones so that they work hard to succeed. This is our way to praise and worship the Lord through music and dancing,” he said.
Baba Mechanic Manyeruke offered words of wisdom to the group, encouraging them to maintain their unity and stay true to their musical identity.
“As a group, you should always work together. Unity leads to success, and you must not change your theme or music type because of people’s views or comments on social media,” he said.
The album features six songs titled ‘Tariro yangu’, ‘Kuhunhaira’, ‘Kana tokohwa’, ‘Jesu mandibairwa’, ‘Chinjikano’, and ‘Shoko rekare kare’.
