Three police officers stationed at the Tshituripasi Police Post in Beitbridge East have been arrested for raping an 18-year-old who had visited her aunt at the police station in June this year.

Jabulani Museba (33), Courage Majoni (32) and Enock Nyamupandu (35) yesterday appeared before Beitbridge regional magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura.

They were remanded in custody to July 23 for a possible trial.

They were represented by Mr Muchiwande Sithole.

Prosecuting, Miss Tsitsi Mutukwa said the complainant arrived at the police station to visit her aunt in June.

On June 5 at around 1800hrs, the complainant was taking a bath in one of the bathrooms when Museba sneaked in and raped her once with protection.

Museba, who was armed with a firearm, threatened to shoot her if she told her aunt about the incident.

Further allegations are that on June 8 at around 1800hrs, the complainant was bathing in the same bathroom when Majoni sneaked in, threatened to kill her and raped her once with protection.

The court also heard that on June 13 at around 1400hrs, the complainant was alone at home when Nyamupandu called her to collect some plates.

When the complainant entered the room, she found Nyamupandu alone and he immediately closed the door.

He took a kitchen knife and threatened to kill her before raping her once with protection.

Miss Mutukwa said the sexual abuse came to light on June 29 when the complainant narrated her ordeal to her mother upon her return to Bulawayo.

Her mother accompanied her to ZRP Western Commonage and a report was made, leading to the trio’s arrest.
