TENNIS Zimbabwe’s new general manager Kupakwashe Mukurumbira hopes to hit the ground running and bring the sport to its former glory.

Mukurumbira, who recently parted ways with the Zimbabwe Boxing and Wrestling Control Board where he served as programmes’ manager, officially began his new role with Tennis Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Speaking at his unveiling ceremony at Harare Sports Club, Mukurumbira said he was delighted to begin his new journey.

“I am delighted to be joining Tennis Zimbabwe and beginning this latest chapter in life,” said the renowned administrator.

“Tennis holds a very special place in my heart and the hearts of many Zimbabweans. The goal here will be to help bring the sport back to its former glory,” he said.

Mukurumbira’s appointment is part of Tennis Zimbabwe’s broader strategic plan.

Tennis Zimbabwe will hold a three-day strategic planning workshop this weekend.

The workshop will be facilitated by strategic management expert Robert Mutsauki, who has been tasked with guiding, advising and supporting Tennis Zimbabwe’s members and stakeholders as they formulate their new roadmap for the period 2023 to 2026.
