JBC men’s winning streak will be on the line when they meet former giants Harare City Hornets, as the Harare Basketball Association Super 6 League returns at the City Sports Centre this weekend.

The Addison Chiware-coached outfit have turned out to be the team to beat.

They currently sit at the apex of the Super 6 League log standings after 11 straight wins from as many matches.

Hornets, on the other hand, have not had the best of starts to the 2022/2023 HBA Super 6 season, and look odds-on favourites to be one of the two teams to receive the chop.

The former champions currently sit bottom of the log standings, with 15 points from the opening 11 games.

However, such is the competitive nature of the Super 6 that Hornets have a chance to survive.

This is because they find themselves tied on points with the two teams above them and will have plenty to fight for come Sunday.

With JBC men’s team slowly running away with the inaugural HBA Super 6 title after their perfect start, it looks like relegation is where the fireworks are.

The battle for survival is shaping up to be a three-team battle between Foxes, UZ Stars and Hornets, who are all tied on 15 points.

Foxes have a date against third-placed Bucs, while Leopards Academy meet UZ Stars.

In the women’s category, the pick of this weekend’s fixtures will see JBC and Vixens square-up.

Defending national and Harare champions, Vixens, are currently on a five-match unbeaten run and seem to have closed the gap between them and log leaders, UZ Sparks.

Only a point separates the two, with Sparks on 20 points after 11 matches.

While Sparks will fancy their chances against third-placed Harare City Hornets, Vixens and JBC Women are set to tangle.

Green Stars are set to play Bunnies in another match-up that is set to have implications on relegation.

Much like their male counterparts, the bottom three teams are also tied on 14 points, making for another interesting battle.

The only difference here is that there is as much excitement at the top of the table, where Sparks (20), Vixens (19) and JBC (18) are all within a shout for the title, while the trio of Bunnies, Hornets and Green Stars are trying to avoid the chop.

Order of Play

JBC v Vixens (W)

Bunnies v Green Stars (W)

UZ Sparks v Harare City Hornets (W)

Leopards Academy v UZ Stars (M)

JBC V Harare City Hornets (M)

Foxes v Bucs (M)
