ZIMBABWE’S young entrepreneurs are set to benefit from being part of a large network of regional peers, following the launch of the Take One Million African Traders Online in the country.

The platform was established by Appletree Digital Commerce.

Appletree has collaborated with some technical partners to create the digital ecosystem, in an effort to create a solution to the lack of opportunities for youths in business across Africa.

Mr Nigel Daura, managing director for Appletree Digital Commerce said:

“We came across some alarming statistics that inspired us to think differently about how we could provide practical solutions to help young Africans to realise their entrepreneurial potential.

“There are only three million formal jobs created annually, showing the need to teach young Africans to think entrepreneurially and take firm and deliberate steps to support small businesses.”

Some of the challenges confronting upcoming entrepreneurs in the country include limited access to funding, markets and opportunities, which stunts their growth.
