THE Parliament of Zimbabwe building will be lit up on Wednesday evening, in commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence (GBV).

16 days of activism against gender-based violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls.

The campaign runs every year from November 25 (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).

In a notice, Parliament advised members of the public that specific roads will be closed on the day to allow the lighting of the building.

“Parliament of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Republic Police wish to advise the public that the following roads will be temporarily closed on Wednesday 24 November 2021 from 1800hrs to 2000hrs: Nelson Mandela and Sam Nujoma Street, and Nelson Mandela and Third Street.

“Event: Lighting of Parliament Building in commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence,” reads the notice.

The public has been asked to use alternative routes during this period.
