PALESTINE has condemned the killing of Palestinian journalist Sherin Abu Aqla in cold blood by Israeli forces.
In a statement on Wednesday, Palestine said Sherin Abu Aqla, a Palestinian Al Jazeera News Television Channel correspondent, was killed this morning by the Israeli occupation army.
Sherin, who was in a media convoy on its way to cover the Israeli attack on the civilian refugee camp in Jenin, was a prominent and iconic female journalist not only in Palestine but in the Middle East.
She has been reporting for AI Jazeera for over 26 years.
“These heinous crimes against journalists are a systematic Israeli attempt to silence the voice of truth and to cover up the crimes of its occupation against our people in order to isolate our Palestinian people from the rest of the world,” reads a statement by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Harare.
Palestine has called upon media organisations, journalists, civil society and governments to raise their voice and condemn these crimes.
“Palestine calls on the International Criminal Court to take urgent action to investigate the Israeli crimes and bring the perpetrators to book as an important measure towards the ending of the Israeli apartheid occupation of Palestine,” added the statement.
