LADY Chevrons captain, Mary-Anne Musonda, has been nominated for the International Cricket Council (ICC) October Player-of-the-Month award, following her unbeaten century in Zimbabwe’s debut ODI match against Ireland last month.

The Lady Chevrons captain was selected for the prestigious ICC monthly award, together with the Ireland duo of Laura Delany and Gaby Lewis.

Musonda was named player of the match for Zimbabwe’s debut ODI against Ireland after scoring an unbeaten 103 runs.

Her form saw her scoring a total of 169 runs in four ODI matches against Ireland at a strike rate of 90,86.

The Zimbabwean skipper will face a stern challenge from the Irish duo of Delany and Lewis, who were influential in inspiring Ireland to a 1-3 series comeback victory against the hosts.

Musonda’s selection for the prestigious award comes in the same week that saw her exploits in the national team colours rewarded with a global recognition.

The Lady Chevrons skipper clinched a kit sponsorship deal from a leading international bat manufacturer, Keeley Cricket.

Musonda will hope her form will continue, as she leads the team in the ICC 2021 World Cup Qualifiers, which will be hosted by Zimbabwe.

An independent ICC Voting Academy, and fans around the world, will now vote to decide the winners.

Fans registered on icc-cricket.com/awards are invited to cast their votes for their favourite ICC player of the month for October in both the men’s and women’s categories.
