India is committed to strengthen its mutual relationship and to enhance cooperation with Zimbabwe Ambassador Bramha Kumar has said.

He was speaking during Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) commemoration in Harare on Wednesday.

He said India and Zimbabwe have actively supported South-South Cooperation, and the two countries’ bilateral relations have reflected a strong bond.

“India appreciates Zimbabwe for her support to India in various international and multilateral fora, including in the United Nations.

“During India’s G20 Presidency in 2023, the African Union (AU) was admitted as a fully-fledged member of G20. It shows our commitment to support Africa and Zimbabwe,” he said.

“In recent years, relations between India and Zimbabwe have deepened on all fronts. Our bilateral cooperation is spreading.

He commended the increasing investment from Indian companies in the various sectors.

“I am happy to note the increasing investments from Indian companies, estimated at US$600 million in sectors like food processing, beverages, mining, textiles, agricultural equipment, etcetera. Indian investors provide direct and indirect employment to about 15 000 people in Zimbabwe.

“Similarly, the number of Indian companies operating in Zimbabwe is rising gradually. Active engagements between the governments of our countries have provided an important platform for enhanced people-to-people contacts through business, culture, tourism, health care and other areas,” said Ambassador Kumar.
