Heavy rains and flash floods are expected in some parts of the country from Friday to Sunday, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has said.
In an advisory, MSD said moisture from the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), coupled with moist winds from the southeast coast of Southern Africa, will converge along the central watershed.
“This should result in heavy rains in areas along the main watershed and the eastern highlands.
“South-easterly winds are expected to drive more moisture northward into areas to the north of the watershed on Saturday January 7 and Sunday January 8, 2023,” reads part of the forecast.

The public has been advised to be on the lookout for strong winds and stay indoors during thunderstorms.
The MSD has also cautioned against attempts to cross flooded rivers.
