THE Ministry of Health and Child Care, in partnership with the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), is developing a curriculum for radiotherapy technologists, as part of efforts to properly equip the local health workforce.
Health and Child Care Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro said the programme is being undertaken under the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s technical cooperation project themed ‘Supporting Human Resources Development in Radiation Medicine’. “International cooperation in this area is important, as it allows for a more technologically-advanced and scientifically-proven approach to cancer management with a common benefit for all,” he said.
The main objective of the IAEA project is to strengthen the treatment of cancer through training and education of radiation medicine professionals through the Africa Regional Cooperative Agreement (AFRA).
