DEFENDING women’s and men’s champions, Vixens and Foxes, respectively, are yet to register a win, while UZ Sparks and JBC have taken early leads on the Harare Basketball League Super 6 log table.

This was the story of the third round of action, as the new format entered into its third week at the City Sports Centre at the weekend.

UZ Sparks continued their bright start to the season with a narrow 57-54 win over defending champions Vixens, while Bunnies, the other unbeaten team, beat Greenstars 68-46. JBC made light work of former champions Harare City Hornets 52-41 in the third and final women’s game.

In the men’s category, JBC beat UZ Stars 87-63, while Harare City Hornets emerged 64-58 victors over reigning champions Foxes.

Leopards Academy narrowly beat Bucs 83-81.

After three rounds of action, UZ Sparks and JBC look to be the early pacesetters, with the duo topping the women and men’s Super 6 log standings, respectively, with six points each.

It’s a closer contest in the women’s category, as Sparks and Bunnies are both unbeaten on six points, with the former on top due to a better basket difference.

JBC (5), Harare City Hornets (4), Vixens and Greenstars (3) are third, fourth, fifth and sixth in that order.

In the men’s category, JBC top the standings with six points, while UZ Stars (5), Leopards Academy (5), Bucs (4), Harare City Hornets (4) and Foxes (3) round up the standings.
