Greenlight International Trust (GLIT) has donated an electronic wheelchair to an upcoming gospel artist living with disability as a way to easy his mobility and networking.

Speaking during the donation in Chitungwiza on Friday, GLIT managing director and founder Mr Tawanda Makwiramiti said they have secured an album producer for free to help him record his songs.

“Today, appreciating the efforts of Sure Matuku in raising up his talent of music with his ordinary wheelchair that he uses, we thought of giving a positive gesture of donating an electronic wheelchair for him for his mobility and which is the reason why we are here today.

“This wheelchair cost about US$1800 and the value of a wheelchair to us is not monetary value.

“The happiness, the appreciation that he gives to his God, that God has remembered him,” he said.

Mr Makwiramiti further indicated that they set to extend their hand next month as they are preparing for their ‘Bring a Smile” to be held in Binga.

The event which is a festival of donations will be held on April 26.

“Bring a Smile 2025 is a programme whereby we will be making massive donations to patients with disabilities.

“However, our strength is in patients with disabilities whereby we are mobilizing mobility devices and other devices that are used by patients with disabilities such as wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames, hearing aids and white cans for those who are visually impaired. This program will be held on the 26th of April in Binga.

“We are inviting people who would want to take part in bringing this event to a success by helping us through with donations, not just monetary,” said Mr Makwiramiti.

In appreciation, Matuke said GLIT has shown its commitment to people living with disability.

“I got to know about GLIT through a radio programme back in 2016. I then called them and they came and donated a wheelchair whilst I was in Buhera and I was 13. Today they have again donated an electronic chair and I really appreciate their effort,” he said.
