HARARE faces 48 hours without water supplies, as the Harare City Council has announced a temporary shutdown of the Morton Jaffray Water treatment plant due to a shortage of chemicals.

The shutdown commenced on Wednesday night.

Harare City Council acting corporate communications manager, Mr Innocent Ruwende, confirmed the development.

Council wishes to advise residents and all stakeholders that due to unprecedented chemical supply challenges, Morton Jaffray Water treatment plant will be temporarily shut down for at least 48 hours commencing last night,” he said in a statement.

“There will be disruptions in water supplies while modalities are being worked to restore normal services within the indicated period.”
