NEW: Division One League back in June

LEADERS of the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) have set June 4, 2022 as the date on which the championship marathon will resume, setting the stage for several crunch encounters as clubs either seek to claim the title or avoid relegation.

The NRSL is currently on a mid-season break.

In the interim, teams in the top half of the Division One log table have been battling it out in the knock-out stages of the Axis Solutions Super 8 Cup.

Teams have also been using the mid-season break to beef up their squads.

In a letter to clubs on Wednesday, NSRL chairperson Martin Kweza indicated that their championship programme will resume on June 4, by which time ongoing negotiations over a review of match official fees with the referees’ committee would have been concluded.

“This has been necessitated by the need to allow the board to finalise negotiations for match fees with the referees’ committee.

“The outcome of these negotiations, once finalised, shall be duly advised,” wrote Kweza.

Leaders Simba Bhora are among the teams that have used the mid-season window to bolster their squad.

The Shamva-based outfit are chasing a league and cup double having reached the final of the Axis Solutions Super 8 Cup in which they will face equally ambitious Golden Eagles.

Simba Bhora have acquired the services of Nigel Tinarwo, Clive Boroma, Privilege Mugandani, Kumbirai Kapikinya and the returning Raphael Manuvire.
