Prosecutor General Justice Loyce Matanda-Moyo has warned members of the public to desist from bribing officials in the justice delivery system, adding that corruption will be dealt with decisively.

Justice Matanda-Moyo said this while giving remarks during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe and Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law today.

She said the NPAZ will not tolerate anything that undermines the rule of law.

The Prosecutor General indicated that five prosecutors are currently facing trials while another one was convicted this year over corruption issues.

“I implore members of the public to desist from offering bribes to prosecutors or any other person involved in the justice delivery system.

“The media is awash with stories of police officers, prosecutors and other Government officials who are taking bribes, this is very worrying. Who is paying these bribes? It is the public.

“Justice is not for sale, It is too valuable to be sold. The public needs to normalise resisting the payment of bribes.

“Paying a bribe is a crime. Some members of the public tend to pay bribes and only come to report the issue once the deal goes sour.

“Let the public be warned, we will not tolerate corruption from the public just as we will not tolerate corruption within our ranks. We will ensure everyone involved in corruption is investigated and prosecuted accordingly,” she said.
