Travelling in and around Harare has been made easier with the recent launch of a new taxi e-hailing application, Toda Rider, which aims to bring world class experiences to the travelling community around the country.

Some would want to call it the Uber of Zimbabwe but Toda Rider is an application designed for Zimbabweans by Zimbabweans who understand the day to day routines people go through to get to their work stations, manage school runs, attend executive meetings and more.

In an interview, Toda operations manager Mr Nyasha Shereni, said the application was a complete package meant to make life easier for riders whilst also enabling an extra income to all those who decide to join the movement as drivers.

“We aim at bringing sanity to the Zimbabwean transport system, by making it easy to catch a cab through our online system which matches on the go passengers with readily available drivers,” he said.

‘‘With the prevailing economic situation in the country, the application through Toda Driver enables ordinary citizens to join and register as drivers managed and approved under Toda standards.

“We are also inviting citizens to download the Toda Driver application and register with us as the first step towards making an extra income from driving their own cars.

‘‘The idea may not be new to many, but our operations are standardised in a manner that guarantees one good business and an effortless ride at the end of the day,” Mr Shereni added.

However, it is important to note that Toda Zimbabwe owns and manages the e-hailing platform while drivers are independent partners who provide services to clients at a commission.

With its head office in Greendale, Harare Toda Zimbabwe offers four product options which include Toda Go, that is smaller, economical cars for everyday travel at average prices.

Toda Lux, a service designed for those who prefer extra comfort, luxury and style when travelling.

The application also makes travelling with luggage and in bigger groups easier as it offers Toda Grande, a travel option with different baggage friendly vehicles to choose from.

While Toda Truk is an option available to cater for those who require to move goods or relocating truck services.

Following the background that Zimbabwe is a multi-currency nation, Toda Zimbabwe enables various payment methods for its services, currently payments are automatically billed through Ecocash, with a cash payment option, while other payment methods are gradually being integrated into the system for enhanced convenience.

The application will be in available in all major cities and towns countrywide, with Harare being its first port of call.  However, people should look out for city to city outreaches as TODA moves to get everyone involved.

The app is available for Download both on the Apple App Store and Google PlayStore.
