THE National Anti-Corruption Strategy Steering Committee has resolved that the criminal justice system should finalise non-complex corruption cases within six months, while intricate cases should be done in 12 months.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) said the committee also resolved to review court rules to give effect to this resolution.

“The high-level National Anti-Corruption Strategy Steering Committee recently resolved that non-complex corruption cases be finalised in the criminal justice system within six months while complex ones within 12 months,” reads the statement.

“The Committee also resolved review of court rules to give effect to these resolutions. The Judicial Service Commission is reviewing the rules and it is the expectation of key stakeholders including the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (Zimbabwe Chapter), that the rules will accommodate these resolutions.”
